Cabbage Three Ways | Gluten-Free | Part Two

Cabbage Three Ways | Gluten-Free | Part Two

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Above you see my mom’s world famous stuffed cabbage rolls. I converted the family recipe to gluten-free and no artificial flavorings or seasonings. My used to use Accent (MSG) in quite a few of her recipes. A quick note to my VEGAN FRIENDS: Below you will see photos of the ground meat version of this recipe. Hold tight, if you scroll down, I also offer a vegan version of this recipe using beans. Preparing the Cabbage Rolls I decided to use ground lamb for this recipe since I am trying to be more conscious of rotating my meats and using ground turkey, chicken,...

The Warm Kitchen – Gluten-Free Cookbook review and giveaway

Amy Fothergill, The Family Chef, is a local gluten-free chef here in the bay area of San Francisco where I live. She teaches classes at various venues throughout the area and I have enjoyed her classes thoroughly. She has a warm engaging way about her and you can tell she truly cares about people and their food sensitivities. Whenever I attend her classes, she always tried to make sure I had a dairy-free option to enjoy. Like me, she is a mother who has worked hard at healing her children through diet intervention. I have a lot of respect for her and her work. I am very excited to announce...

Sweet Cravings Cookbook Review and Giveaway!

I met the author of this cookbook for the first time at the Gluten-Free & Allergen-Free Expo in San Francisco this past January. Kyra, owner of Crave Bakeshop, is such a sweetheart. At the show, I inquired about her cupcake samples being dairy-free which she informed me they were not. Later in the show, she flagged me down and produced a dairy-free version of her cupcake. Where she came up with this, I have no idea but she certainly made me feel that it was made especially for me. This is the kind of person she is…a sweetheart to the core. Her cupcake recipe featured below was the...

Weeknight Gluten Free Cookbook Review and Giveaway

This is a beautiful cookbook. The photography is amazing. I love a cookbook with good photos. It is full of such interesting recipes that I had a hard time deciding what recipes I wanted to try. I decided to stick with recipes I know I could use on a regular basis so I tried the Spaghetti with Heirloom Tomatoes, Olives and Herbs, the Quinoa Tabbouleh salad, Roasted Fish with Lemon-Almond Bread Crumbs and the Socca flat bread (something I’ve never had before). I was super excited to use produce from my garden. Below are freshly picked cherry tomatoes and rosemary. First, I made the...

Cookbook Review and Giveaway!

┬áNourished…The Art of Eating and Living Well Maybe it is the heart shaped hands on the front of this cookbook or the title, Nourished, but the first time I saw it, I could sense the love infused in this cookbook. The author, Luna Paige Smith, did a beautiful job developing it. The photography is captivating and the recipes are unique, interesting and, well, “nourishing.” After eating gluten and dairy-free for over six years now, I am in dire need of recipe inspiration. Luna did a creative and loving job with her creations. I chose four recipes to try. Wild Arugula with...

GF Orzo Pasta Recipe Review and Giveaway

GF Orzo Pasta Recipe Review and Giveaway

I found this gluten-free orzo pasta recipe (below) on the TACA (Talk About Curing Autism) Web site. It’s the first time I’ve heard of gluten-free orzo type pasta. It’s amazing to me how many new GF pasta varieties are now available. The grainery that makes this unique orzo pasta, Edison Grainery, is located right here in the East Bay area, in Emeryville. They offer a really nice selection of gluten-free organic grains and pastas. I ordered organic amaranth (my “happy food”), quinoa flakes (for quinoa porridge), buckwheat and several bags of various GF pastas....
