The Warm Kitchen – Gluten-Free Cookbook review and giveaway

Amy Fothergill, The Family Chef, is a local gluten-free chef here in the bay area of San Francisco where I live. She teaches classes at various venues throughout the area and I have enjoyed her classes thoroughly. She has a warm engaging way about her and you can tell she truly cares about people and their food sensitivities. Whenever I attend her classes, she always tried to make sure I had a dairy-free option to enjoy. Like me, she is a mother who has worked hard at healing her children through diet intervention. I have a lot of respect for her and her work. I am very excited to announce...

Sweet Cravings Cookbook Review and Giveaway!

I met the author of this cookbook for the first time at the Gluten-Free & Allergen-Free Expo in San Francisco this past January. Kyra, owner of Crave Bakeshop, is such a sweetheart. Where she came up with this, I have no idea but she certainly made me feel that it was made especially for me. This is the kind of person she is…a sweetheart to the core. Her cupcake recipe featured below was the...

It’s amazing to me how many new GF pasta varieties are now available. The grainery that makes this unique orzo pasta, Edison Grainery, is located right here in the East Bay area, in Emeryville. They offer a really nice selection of gluten-free organic grains and pastas. I ordered organic amaranth (my “happy food”), quinoa flakes (for quinoa porridge), buckwheat and several bags of various GF pastas....

GF Apple Cider Donuts

GF Apple Cider Donuts

I grew up in Michigan where apple orchards are abundant. Going to apple cider mills every fall and enjoying fresh steaming hot apple cider donuts right out of the fryer and pressed apple cider is a way of life for “Michiganders.” I always loved the fall season. In Michigan, the leaf color change is amazing. The beautiful colors coupled with the seasonal fall flavors, apple and cinnamon, is intoxicating. It’s one of the things I really miss about Michigan (besides my family, of course). A couple years ago I discovered Applehill in Placerville which is a lovely fall getaway...
