Proud to Bee Gluten-Free!

Proud to Bee Gluten-Free!

It was a beautiful day. The sun shone above and the weather was perfect as 65 plus members of my gluten-free support group, Gluten Intolerance Group of Tri-Valley, marched for gluten-free awareness and pride. There were huge smiles and puffed up chests as we proclaimed our pride in reclaiming our health and well-being by removing gluten from our diet. There isn’t a member in my group that won’t boast about the miraculous difference this diet has made in their life or the life of their child and yet this lifestyle can be challenging at first for the newly diagnosed…thus the need for support groups.

In my opinion, it can be hardest for children. It’s a challenge for them to comprehend the importance of this diet to their health. When it comes to food, they typically just want to feel “normal” among their peers. A gluten-free diet can very easily set a person a part in a social situation where food is involved. My goal with my son, Sammy, is to raise him embracing and feeling proud of his gluten-free diet. It is indeed his prescription for good health, optimized brain function and well-being. You can read more about his story of healing here: Sammy’s Autism Diagnosis.

Check out the fun we had below and I want to give a special “THANK YOU” to the many generous sponsors who made this day possible. Please check them out at the end of this post.IMG_5132
