Gluten Free | Carrot Cake | Dairy Free Cream Cheese

Gluten Free | Carrot Cake | Dairy Free Cream Cheese

Really yummy gluten-free carrot cake!                       The cake started to lean to the side after sitting at room temperature. If you want to do a “layer” type cake as seen here, I suggest you keep the cake refrigerated at all times.  You can also do a sheet cake or cupcakes to avoid this problem. Tofutti brand cream cheese contains soy but would yield a firmer cream cheese frosting that may be less likely to cause the layers to slide. Cookbook Review and Giveaway!

Nourished…The Art of Eating and Living Well Maybe it is the heart shaped hands on the front of this cookbook or the title, Nourished, but the first time I saw it, I could sense the love infused in this cookbook. The author, Luna Paige Smith, did a beautiful job developing it. The photography is captivating and the recipes are unique, interesting and, well, “nourishing.” After eating gluten and dairy-free for over six years now, I am in dire need of recipe inspiration. Luna did a creative and loving job with her creations. I chose four recipes to try. Wild Arugula with...

OMGoodness…Product Review…Luce’s Gluten Free Bread Mix

OMGoodness…Product Review…Luce’s Gluten Free Bread Mix

This is the most amazing gluten-free bread I’ve ever experienced. If you like the old world style crusty bread, Luce’s Artisan Gluten-Free Bread mix is for you. You can welcome back the days of dipping bread in olive oil. I went directly to the store and bought some of my favorite olive oil dipping sauce. Life is good again. We are so crazy about this bread that I baked a loaf and took it to my favorite restaurant, Wente Restaurant in Livermore. We enjoyed the “bread basket” experience once again. It was magical. Thanks to Wente for allowing us to bring our own bread...

GFCF (Dye Free) Cake Pops

GFCF (Dye Free) Cake Pops

I always have my eye out for creative holiday GFCF treats. There are so many food items that my son cannot have that I strive to make the most of what he can have. After seeing an infomercial for a cake pop pan and an advertisement for vegan white chocolate chips, I thought I’d give this GFCF cake pop idea a try. For the cake batter, I used Pure Pantry’s chocolate cake mix. I’ve never used Pure Pantry so I was curious about it. I followed the directions on the bag and I can’t believe how beautiful the cake balls turned out. They were perfect and there was no batter...

OMGoodness – Jules Thin Crust Pizza – Restaurant Review

OMGoodness – Jules Thin Crust Pizza – Restaurant Review

Jules Thin Crust pizza in Danville (located in the Livery) is our favorite gluten free pizza place. I love everything about this pizzeria experience. It has a clean modern decor with a nice dining area. They use green products to clean the tables and have recycle and compost waste options. The staff is always friendly and Heather, the owner, treats you like a good friend when you arrive…. Their pizza topping options are some of the most unique I’ve ever seen. My favorite is Meat Pie #4, “Kim’s pie,” with Hormone-free roasted chicken, portobello mushroom,...
